Ethereum-based massively multiplayer online (MMO) space survival game Eve Frontier will host a 10-day free trial period starting on Friday, April 11.
Open until April 21, free trial players will get to explore the universe, building and commanding ships and attempting to survive in a game in which the world “literally wants to kill you,” according to CCP Games CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson.
The Remnant Access trial coincides with the beginning of the game’s third phase, a 60-day period in which it typically implements new gameplay or economic features.

CCP Games opened closed alpha access to Eve Frontier with the sale of Founders Access passes in mid-December. Available in three tiers ranging from $30-$90, the passes provide players with additional perks like an “always-on” server and post-launch subscription time.
Free trial users will not receive any Founders Access perks or customizations.
CCP Games raised $40 million in 2023 to expand its space-themed Eve Online gaming universe via blockchain. The game recently appointed a former economist from the Central Bank of Iceland to be its Head of Economy as it continues experimenting ahead of a full launch, in the hopes of perfecting a “player-driven financial system.”
Built on Redstone, a gaming-centric Ethereum layer-2 network built for autonomous worlds, Eve Frontier is designed to support a multi-token ecosystem, including an eventual EVE token that will act as the ecosystem’s utility token.
Eve Online, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game MMORPG that preceded Eve Frontier, was first released by CCP Games in 2003. It’s considered one of the most hardcore games on the market, with dedicated in-game clans called corporations, extensive lore that has inspired multiple books, and an annual official fan festival in Iceland.
