Community Gaming announced Monday that its upcoming video game-centric prediction market Forkast will launch on Ethereum sidechain gaming network Ronin.
The platform will allow users to stake tokens and earn rewards while making predictions about gaming, esports, Web3, and internet culture events. Forkast is one of the first consumer apps to be integrated into Ronin, a network that plays host to games like Pixels and Axie Infinity.
Community Gaming is a blockchain-based competitive gaming ecosystem and tournament platform. The team-up with Ronin means that Forkast will utilize Ronin Waypoint, a universal account and keyless wallet, to facilitate user access and enable gasless transactions for certain activities like claiming reward boxes.
📦 Forkast Highlights:
1️⃣ Predict on what you know best: games, esports, streamers, & web3 🌐
2️⃣ Stake $CGX to earn loot boxes w/ prizes like Prediction Credits & tokens
3️⃣ Weekly rewards & daily liquidity incentives keep the fun going! 🚀 pic.twitter.com/E5ml0lKTxc— FORKAST (@ForkastGG) December 11, 2024
“Ronin has proven to be the clear leader for gaming,” Community Gaming CEO Chris Gonsalves told Decrypt. “Community Gaming has already been building on Ronin and supporting the community there for years with CG Tournaments. Their tooling is robust and they have demonstrated how resilient their ecosystem is through multiple cycles.”
Forkast will be built around Community Gaming’s upcoming CGX token, and prediction market users will have 50% of airdropped tokens auto-staked in exchange for weekly rewards.
Both Forkast and the CGX token are expected to launch in January 2025.
For Ronin, which was launched by Axie Infinity maker Sky Mavis, the addition of a prediction market platform gives the network another way to keep users engaged—particularly since its focus is aligned with Ronin’s core focus.
“Community Gaming built throughout the bear and were a key partner for our Axie tournaments. Now, they’re taking the next step with Forkast—Ronin’s first prediction market,” Sky Mavis co-founder and Chief Growth Officer Jeff Zirlin told Decrypt. “Prediction markets and gaming chains go hand-in-hand since there are so many potential outcomes, both in-game and IRL, to bet on.”
“I’ll definitely be using Forkast,” he added, “and this is just the beginning of a new wave of consumer applications on Ronin.”
