Following up on their promise to offer a rotating selection of alternate game modes, Gods Unchained unveils their latest option, Pauper Mode! Only allowing cards that are of common and rare variety, Pauper Mode will make many players rethink how they assemble their decks!
Tired of fighting against decks with overpowered legendary cards that cost hundreds of dollars? Or do you just enjoy the challenge of creating competitive decks while under specific limitations? Either way, the new Pauper Mode in Gods Unchained might be for you!
The newly introduced Pauper Mode restricts players to using only common and rare cards in their decks.
Unfortunately, there are still some very powerful rare cards that would not be available to most paupers. Pyramid Wardens for example, cost $88 each, and Underbrush Boars are $25 each. Neither is necessarily a required card, but both a very powerful early game cards that can often make or break a match. But still, removing epic and legendary cards entirely from the mix (though they could still be summoned through other cards!), makes for some different gameplay.
At the moment, Pauper is a casual game mode. Players receive no rewards for playing Pauper Mode, though they can still earn Flux. However, the Gods Unchained team has said that if it goes well and the playerbase likes it, they may offer it as a permanent, ranked option! Pauper Mode will be available for two weeks.
Supposedly there is a Sealed Deck mode currently in testing with the Superpower group. This is a very popular format in Magic: The Gathering and other trading cards games.
The previous new game mode, Chaos Constructed, was not so popular. Perhaps because the overpowered insanity was just too much for most players — for example, this one turn kill on the very first turn depicted below!
What is Gods Unchained?
Gods Unchained is a free-to-play, collectible card game. Built on the Ethereum blockchain, Gods Unchained uses the Immutable X layer-2 solution for gas-free trading. Players retain full ownership over their cards. Players can earn digital ‘Core’ cards by playing the game. When a player has two identical Core cards, they can mint these into one blockchain-based card. That card is then tradeable on the markets.
Gods Unchained offers several play and earn opportunities. Players gain cards by being active players, win packs while competing in the weekend tournaments, and can earn GODS tokens simply by playing every day!
With several expansions its belt, Gods Unchained has a wide variety of cards for different playstyles. Players can buy and open packs from the official site. Secondary sales are available on the Immutable X Marketplace and Token Trove.
