Blockchain Brawlers Rebrands to Brawlers

Once again we see a game development company make moves to create some distance in their game between players and the blockchain as Blockchain Brawlers drops the blockchain part of their name, and rebrands to simply Brawlers.

Blockchain Brawlers will from this point forward be known only as Brawlers. The team has decided that in order to draw in a larger audience, it would be better to focus less on the blockchain aspects of the game.

Of course, this rebrand is a reaction to the fact that much of the gaming population still has negative reactions to any mention of blockchain, NFTs, or web3. The game won’t really change. The main plan is to create frictionless onboarding for new players. They also plan to reduce the blockchain references both in-game and on the website

This rebrand will take shape over the coming weeks. Brawlers has both PC and Mac clients in development. And they have already secured a spot on the Epic platform for future downloads. The official launch on the Epic Games installer is planned for the end of this month (September).

With the new installers, players will no longer need a WAX wallet in order to join the game. Players can just download the game and play with a selection of free, starter cards that are given to everyone. The game will create a WAX wallet for new players behind the scenes. But interacting with NFTs or tokens isn’t required.

In addition, Brawlers is working on various stability and quality of life improvements for their players, both old and new. Expect to see those updates this month as well.

What is Blockchain Brawlers?

Developed by WAX Studios, an offshoot of the official WAX organization, Brawlers is a free to play, casual, strategy game that simulates a wrestling competition. A mixture of WWE, Mexican wrestling, and cage match brawls, Blockchain brawlers brings some some wrestling zaniness to the gaming world.

Part deckbuilder, part poker, part rock-paper-scissors, Brawlers sees two players facing off. Each contestant plays two cards each turn, comparing them against each their opponent to see the result of that round. The player that reduces their opponent’s health to zero first, wins the match. Finding the right combination of Brawlers and moves, and knowing how to use them in the ring are important to long term success in Brawlers.

Players can earn BRWL tokens by competing and winning in certain types of matches.
