On October 6, Essential Cardano provided the latest weekly development report about Cardano’s ecosystem.
Core Technology: Making the Rules and Keeping the Peace
The Cardano ledger team has been hard at work, setting up a constitutional committee to oversee the blockchain’s rules. They’ve also improved how the treasury functions and ensured that transactions comply with existing rules. They’ve made it easier to update the programming language for smart contracts, specifically for Plutus, without having to change everything else.
Wallets and Services: Secure and User-Friendly
The Lace team is gearing up for a new release that will include a feature for keeping track of your portfolio. They’ve also added basic support for Trezor hardware wallets and have started an internal security review to ensure everything is up to par.
Smart Contracts: Tools for Developers
The Plutus team has been enhancing the Marconi API, a toolkit for developers. They’ve also been testing these tools with a Cardano node emulator. The Marlowe team has been equally busy, releasing new Docker images for their software and making several performance improvements.
Scaling: Preparing for the Future
The Hydra team is focused on creating a new network layer to make Cardano more scalable. They’ve also released a new version of Hydra that includes important security fixes.
Governance: Power to the People
A new tool called GovTool has been introduced to help with governance on the Cardano network. This tool allows Cardano token holders to register and delegate their voting power, giving the community a significant role in decision-making.
Project Catalyst: Nurturing New Ideas
Project Catalyst is in the process of bringing onboard new projects that have been selected for funding. This involves several steps like guidebooks, calls, and setting milestones to ensure that the teams can deliver on their promises.
Education: Learning the Ropes
The education team continues to offer Haskell courses and is collaborating with the Marlowe team to create new educational materials.

Cardano has successfully launched 146 projects and processed an impressive 76.1 million transactions. The network has also generated more than 8.93 million native tokens and executed 10,079 Plutus scripts. Currently, 1,288 projects are being actively developed on the platform. These numbers highlight Cardano’s rapid growth and its potential to bring groundbreaking changes to the cryptocurrency landscape.
