Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) announces the imminent launch of a new facet in their ever-growing ecosystem — a game called HV-MTL Forge, slated for a Season 1 launch on June 29th, and presumably tied to the HV-MTL NFTs.
In typical Bored Ape style, we have a lot of hype, but not a lot of detail about their upcoming game called HV-MTL Forge. In fact, beyond the tagline “Build. Flex. Fight. Evolve.”, and a short introduction video that doesn’t really explain anything, we know very little about this game.
HV-MTL is another NFT collection in the Bored Ape Yacht Club portfolio. Players initially acquired these NFTs by completing the Dooky Dash game earlier this year to acquire keys, which then opened a chest containing a Power Source. These Power Sources evolved into the current set of HV-MTL Robots, and the Forge game will likely be another step in their evolution.
What is HV-MTL Forge?
All we have know HV-MTL Forge is what we can gather from the 42 second teaser trailer released on the BAYC Twitter feed. It looks like HV-MTL Forge will be some sort of home / base building and decoration game, with a social, voting aspect.
Players will construct their base. From what and with what we don’t know. Then, at some point, other players will begin voting on which ones they like the best. From this popularity contest will come a set of leaderboards, which offer rewards in the form of ‘powerful upgrades’. I would assume that you need to own a HV-MTL NFT to participate in the Forge, but again, we have no details on that. The BAYC team has promised to reveal more over the next week leading up the launch, but they’ve also said that “it will just make sense once you’ve played for a bit.”
Bored Ape Yacht Club team has promoted HV-MTL (and actually many of their recent NFT collections), as living NFTs that change based on the owner’s actions and decisions. We’ve seen a little bit of this with the Otherdeeds and the Obelisk pieces, but it will be interesting to see where they go with these otherwordly robots. The current floor price for an HV-MTL NFT is 0.7 ETH.
What is Bored Ape Yacht Club?
Created by Yuga Labs, Bored Ape Yacht Club began as a PFP project but has grown into much more. Launched in April of 2021, the Bored Apes are one of the most well known NFT projects. They include a number of celebrities in their owner list, and the rarer NFTs have sold for over $1 million!. They have also launched several additional NFT collections such as the Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, Otherside deeds, and more!
