You know how Zuck allowed Instagram users to port their followings over to Threads?
Yeah, well, that growth tactic has lead to Threads pulling in close to 100M users in under a week!
But that kind of growth tactic only works if you have an established social network to pull from.
So unless you own Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, or TikTok – it’s not really an option for you.
At least…it’s not an option if you’re building on Web2 social protocols (aka ‘rule sets’).
Web3 social protocols are a different beast. They let users take their social graphs with them between apps.
Ok…what the hell is a ‘social graph’?
Think of it like a huge spreadsheet that logs the posts you like, the ads you click, the kinds of videos you watch, your friends list – pretty much everything you do on a social platform – that’s what makes up your ‘social graph.’
In Web3, because you own your social graph (instead of the platform), it means it’s yours to do with as you please.
